is critical to the operation of any company, but especially so for those using mechanical handling equipment. The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 is a primary piece of legislation covering occupational health & safety at work throughout the United Kingdom.

The details that are of interest to us here is manual handling operation regulations 1992, which set out no specific requirements such as weight limits. But this legislation can be used in determining any compensation requirements for injury.

If training on manual handling is required, we can provide fully trained, experienced and certificated instructors to train your personnel, testing them on completion and if they pass providing you with necessary certificates.

Other legislation has been introduced that companies must be aware of and meet the requirements of. This is to provide a safe environment to work in and to ensure that personnel are operating any equipment are trained to ensure it is safe, used correctly and has regular checks that are required by that equipment.

There are two pieces of legislation that have to be complied with, were introduced throughout the European Union. They are “Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998″referred to as PUWER. The other is “Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998” referred to as LOLER.

Both these regulations refer to storage equipment, warehouse operations, buildings and material handling equipment condition and use. They have to be met and inspection and certification are necessary, which can be checked at any time by Health & Safety inspectors.
